Chelsea striker speculates about his future as Spurs, Atletico and Everton lurk
Romelu Lukaku, once again, has plenty to say about his Chelsea future.
Speaking to the Guardian after Belgium’s defeat to Argentina, Lukaku seems adamant that he has ‘choices to make’. Self-professed as a complete striker, Lukaku, now 21, is keen to play somewhere that he can win titles. That would mean Atletico may be of interest, but Spurs an unlikely destination.
Lukaku seems to rule out a possible loan move after stints at West Brom and Everton: “I’m 21 but I think I’m experienced enough now. I’ve played a lot of games and scored a lot of goals and now I want to win titles and become one of the best. I have a few ideas but we’ll see. I have to have discussions first and have to think about it. I want to go home and then I will decide. It will be soon.”
Lukaku said that discussions had not yet taken place between him and Chelsea: “No, not yet. It depends what is the best for me, where the most ambition is and where is the best place for me to develop.”
It remains to be seen if Lukaku is part of Jose Mourinho’s plans but currently Demba Ba, Fernando Torres and Diego Costa are battling it out with the Belgian for a starting spot. Something’s gotta give.
