Suarez to Barcelona: £80m or £50m + Sanchez transfer talks in London begin today

Luis Suarez, after managing a Twitter apology to Giorgio Chiellini, appears likely to move on from Anfield.

The Mirror report that, on Wednesday, Barcelona and Liverpool will begin transfer negotiations for the prolific Uruguayan striker. After the talented forward’s recent ban for biting Chiellini in a World Cup group stage fixture, it appears that the side that have backed him have finally decided to move on.

According to the Mirror, Sanchez is not keen on moving to Liverpool and would prefer to leave Barcelona and join Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal in the summer transfer window. A tough blow for Liverpool’s chances of securing the suggested part-exchange deal.

Crucial to Suarez’ potential departure from Liverpool to Barcelona this summer was his ‘apology’, according to many pundits. Barcelona’s sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta was quick to praise Suarez: “Everyone knows that Luis is an excellent player,” he said. “Everyone knows last season he played in various positions in attack, but everyone also knows that he is a Liverpool player.”

Deal seems likely and it may be down to Liverpool’s demands rather than Barcelona’s willingness to sign a currently banned player.
