Deal agreed: Arsenal star set to join Manchester United
Manchester United have secured the signing of Thomas Vermaelen, in principle, according to the Telegraph.
Vermaelen, the Arsenal captain, will join Manchester United this summer, if Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United can negotiate a fee with Arsenal after the World Cup finals. The Telegraph report that Vermaelen hopes to move to Old Trafford and is preparing to leave the Emirates Stadium. The Belgian shares the same agent as Robin van Persie and that is said to have been crucial in negotiations.
Van Gaal is apparently keen to replace the imposing Vidic and Ferdinand following their summer departures and Manchester United appear to have prised another fan favourite & club captain from North London. Bacary Sagna, Arsenal’s starting right-back already left the FA Cup winners to join Manchester City this summer and Vermaelen looks set to join Sagna in Manchester, albeit on the red side.
Meanwhile, Arsenal told Fabregas that they didn’t need him. Look at Wenger, getting all confident.
