Chelsea aim to complete deals for Cavani and Luke Shaw before the World Cup

According to the Daily Mirror, Jose Mourinho is confident of completing two big deals before the World Cup.

The two signings that Mourinho intends to complete are to bring Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw to Stamford Bridge. With the imminent departures of Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba, Mourinho wants to bring in the PSG striker Cavani to bolster his options. Meanwhile, Ashley Cole may leave the Blues in the summer as his deal expires at the end of the season. Luke Shaw, the ideal replacement.

In order to secure a deal for Cavani, Chelsea would probably need to offer more than the  £50m British transfer record fee Chelsea paid Liverpool for Fernando Torres three years ago.

Southampton left-back Luke Shaw is favouring a summer move to Chelsea, who he supported as a boy. It is believed that Sahw would cost approximately £20m.

The number one priority, it seems, would be a world-class striker. It would be surprising if Romelu Lukaku is not part of Mourinho’s plans, but Cavani is high on Mourinho’s list.
