Barcelona want Manchester City star to replace Xavi

Barcelona want Manchester City star David Silva to replace the ageing Xavi.

It appears that Barcelona officials have compiled a list of potential replacements this summer – and £50million-rated Spanish international, David Silva, is their top choice.

Silva, 28, is seen as the ideal man to slot into midfield at the Nou Camp if and when Xavi moves on. Manuel Pellegrini apparently fears that the Manchester City star Silva will be coerced into a move back to sunny Spain when he joins up with his compatriots for the World Cup in Brazil this summer.

Barcelona’s big names may try to tempt David Silva back to La Liga – the former Valencia star joined Manchester City for £25million in 2010.
