A thrilled Chelsea Football Club have officially signed one of the most coveted teenagers in European football on transfer deadline day.

Kurt Zouma, the highly-rated French centre back from St. Etienne has signed for Chelsea on a five year deal for a fee of £12m. The player will be loaned back to St. Etienne immediately, and will link up with the squad next season.

The announcement will come from Chelsea later today, but the player is pictured above having just signed his new contract.

The 19 year old has been sought after by Premier League clubs for some time, and Chelsea will be thrilled to have been the team to acquire his services. In particular, Liverpool have been courting Zouma – and have again found themselves outdone by Chelsea’s spending power and Champions League attraction.

Since 2011, Zouma has made 51 league appearances for St. Etienne, scoring 4 goals. He has featured at the youth level for France, and has been touted by some as a potential future captain for the French side.

This concludes a busy transfer period for Chelsea, who also signed Bertrand Traore, Nemanja Matic and Mohamed Salah – as well as letting go of Juan Mata.
