Why Juan Mata is not the answer for Manchester United

By on January 20, 2014

Juan Mata is linked with a move to Manchester United.

David Moyes is reportedly considering a £40million bid for Juan Mata – that’s Chelsea’s asking price. Strangely, Juan Mata is possibly the last position that needs to be strengthened. The Daily Mail make the tenuous link between chances created vs Manchester United’s current central midfielders. They, quite simply, cannot be compared in this fashion.

Juan Mata is a number 10. United already have Shinji Kagawa and Wayne Rooney for that position. Simple as that.

The Daily Mail suggest that Mata – Chelsea’s two-time player of the year – is desperate to leave the Blues. Given Mata’s possible Spain World Cup squad exclusion without first-team football, it is little wonder that stars empathize with the former Valencia man.

Mourinho prefers Willian, Oscar and Hazard ahead of Juan Mata. United need a central midfielder alongside Carrick  and that, simply put, is not Mata.
