Hiddink and Capello No Longer In Running for Tottenham Job, According to Reports

In a surprise twist, early favourites Guus Hiddink and Fabio Capello are now reportedly no longer in the running for the vacant Tottenham managerial position.

Guus Hiddink’s agent has all but officially removed his client from contention.

Villas-Boas was sacked on Monday morning following another dismal performance at home – this time by losing 5-0 to Liverpool without registering a shot on target.

Tottenham have also lost 6-0 away to Man City and 3-0 at home to West Ham this season – significant embarrassments that were the nails in AVB’s managerial coffin.

AVB splashed out almost £100m this summer replacing the departed Gareth Bale, but his team lacked cohesiveness and his persistence with players like Paulinho over Sigurdsson frustrated many.

The search for a successor began straight away, and with Capello reportedly spotted at White Hart Lane for the match versus Liverpool, his name jumped to the top of the bookies favourite list.

However, despite Capello’s association with Spurs technical director Franco Baldini, Capello is reportedly committed to taking Russia as far as possible in the World Cup in Brazil.

And today it has been revealed that the second favourite for the job – Guus Hiddink – is unlikely to join after comments from his agent.

“I would be surprised if he went to Spurs,” Cees van Nieuwenhuizen told the Press Association.

“I could hardly imagine that happening.”

“He has just signed a contract with Holland and he has also turned down offers from other countries recently to coach them at the World Cup so I wouldn’t take any talk of Guus going to Tottenham seriously” he said.

Who do you think should join Tottenham to replace AVB?
