AVB Has Been Sacked By Tottenham Hotspur, According to Reports

As reported by ChampionsLeague.ca yesterday evening, it has now been confirmed that Andre Villas-Boas has officially been sacked by Tottenham Hotspur.

The first hint at the sacking was when reliable French news source BeIN Sport tweeted on their official account: “Andre Villas-Boas will no longer coach Tottenham” yesterday evening.

It is now being reported by Sky Sports and BBC Sport, and has been officially confirmed by Tottenham Hotspur that AVB has been shown the door at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham released a statement, saying “The club can announce that agreement has been reached with head coach Andre Villas-Boas for the termination of his services.”

“The decision was by mutual consent and in the interests of all parties. We wish Andre well for the future, [and] we shall make a further announcement in due course.”

Fabio Capello was spotted at White Hart Lane yesterday, and there are suggestions that he is next in line to replace Villas-Boas.

Last night Tottenham were mauled by Liverpool 5-0 at White Hart Lane, not the first time this season that Villas-Boas’ side have been embarrassed by a result. Tottenham were unable to register a single shot on target during the match.

It was only a few weeks ago when Tottenham were also savaged 6-0 at the Etihad stadium, although that is a place where many, including Arsenal, will experience a similar fate.

However, Spurs have also been beaten 3-0 at home by West Ham recently, apparently another significant nail in the coffin of Villas-Boas.

Frustrations had boiled over at Villas-Boas’ performance and decisions, with many perplexed as to why he persisted with Paulinho while so consistently leaving out Gylfi Sigurdsson – Spurs’ best offensive performer so far this year.

Now Tottenham begin the difficult search for a successor, with only a few weeks until the next transfer window opens.
