Chelsea Launch Fresh Bid for Wayne Rooney, According to Reports

According to reports in the Daily Mirror and CaughtOffside, Chelsea are apparently now ready to launch a fresh bid for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

Chelsea understand that Rooney has stalled on his contract talks at Old Trafford, and are prepared to swoop in with a significant offer to tempt David Moyes to cash-in on his star while he can.

Rooney’s contract runs out in 18 months, after which he would be able to sign for any club freely with no transfer fee required.

Despite Demba Ba’s goal last night in the Champions League, Mourinho is still unhappy and unsatisfied with the performance of the strikers that are available to him.

Rooney, on the other hand, has been in fine form for the Red Devils, notching up 10 goals and 10 assists in only 20 appearances.

While Rooney may be flourishing, Manchester United certainly are not – in fact, it appears that the Old Trafford side may well miss out on the top 4 in the Premier League this season.

That would mean missing out on Champions League qualification – something that would surely provoke Rooney into pushing for a move.

Only yesterday it was also rumoured that Real Madrid were sensationally prepared to offer £50m and one of Sami Khedira or Angel Di Maria for Rooney – an offer that Chelsea would certainly have to match in order to gain the signature of the English star.
