Real Madrid Offer £50m Plus Player for Wayne Rooney, According to Reports

By on December 11, 2013

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to make a sensational bid for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

Carlo Ancelotti has firmly set his sights on the 28-year old Englishman, and is now ready to commit to a significant bid of £50m plus one of Angel Di Maria or Sami Khedira.

Di Maria and Khedira are apparently players that Moyes is keen on, and one of those players plus an extra £50m will surely test the resolve of Manchester United’s desire to hold on to Rooney.

Ancelotti reportedly sees Rooney as a preferable strike option to Benzema, and Real Madrid also feel that the popular Englishman will be highly marketable and provide a great deal of sponsorship deals and shirt sales. As such, Real Madrid will be prepared to maintain his £250k-a-week salary for another four years.

While Moyes is desperate to hold onto Rooney, he will certainly be tested by what, ultimately, is a very strong offer from Real Madrid. Rooney’s current contract expires in 2015, and his value will significantly decrease once he enters his final year.

The striker has netted ten times and hit ten assists already in 20 appearances so far this season.
