Didier Drogba has revealed that he never intended to join Chelsea.

Drogba told ITV: “I didn’t want to move. I had started something with Marseille and I didn’t finish it.” In the summer of 2004, Didier Drogba moved to Chelsea for a club record £24 million fee, he became the most expensive Ivorian player in history. In his debut season with Mourinho & Chelsea, he helped the club win their first English domestic league title in 50 years. What a start.

He made his last appearance for Chelsea in the 2012 Champions League Final, scoring an 88th minute equaliser and the winning penalty in the famous shoot-out against Bayern Munich.

And just think, he never even wanted to join.
