Chelsea duo lined up for Atletico Madrid move

By on December 4, 2013

Juan Mata and Kevin De Bruyne are linked with a move to Atletico Madrid after seeing first-team chances limited under Jose Mourinho.

Kevin De Bruyne has suffered a frustrating time at Chelsea and has not completed a full 90 minutes for the Blues since making the move from Genk in 2012.

Juan Mata, the club’s back-to-back player of the season, has played a peripheral role since Mourinho’s arrival, after the Portuguese manager highlighted Mata’s poor defensive capabilities.

Mata and De Bruyne are looking to secure their starting places in the Spanish and Belgian national squads respectively for the 2014 Brazil World Cup but may have to leave Stamford Bridge to attain that goal.
