Chelsea “at the front of the queue” for Bundesliga star this January
Chelsea will reportedly make an audacious bid for Borussia Dortmund star striker Robert Lewandowski this January.
Whilst Bayern Munich remain the firm favourites to sign the Polish star, Chelsea are apparently poised to swoop if the Bayern deal falls through.
It has often been stated that Bayern Munich have already signed a pre-contract with Lewandowski, but it has reportedly emerged that no deal has been officially completed – leaving the window for an alternative move open.
Jose Mourinho is known to believe that his strike-force, despite the recent resurgence of Fernando Torres, is lightweight. Certainly, Mourinho sees genuine room for improvement within his current squad, and has earmarked Lewandowski as a serious target for a January bid.
Chelsea would be likely to pay a significant premium for the Pole, especially as he will be ineligible to play in the Champions League.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea will “be at the front of the queue next summer if Bayern don’t complete a deal.”
