Chelsea to make massive £35m bid for Man Utd star this January
Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea are reportedly set to make a fresh bid for Manchester United star Wayne Rooney this summer – to the tune of a handsome £35 million pounds.
Chelsea had two official bids rejected this summer by Manchester United, but Mourinho is apparently still hugely keen to bolster his attacking line.
Chelsea’s forwards have been underwhelming thus far this season, although Torres has been showing some spark and progress. Regardless, Mourinho sees his front line as the most significant weakness of his side, and is “desperate” to add to his strikers this January.
Wayne Rooney has been in scintillating form so far this season, and has, truthfully, been the only bright note for Manchester United in a disappointing year so far.
His form, however, means that the speculation that Rooney was unhappy at Old Trafford has quietened. Regardless, new reports today suggest that Chelsea are now ready to test the waters once more, with Rooney only having 20 months left on his current contract at Old Trafford.
