Dortmund “desperate” for United Star
Jurgen Klopp, is reportedly hugely keen to bring Shinji Kagawa back to Borussia Dortmund.
Kagawa himself also recently told Japanese television that he hopes his time at Dortmund is not over, and that he would be willing to return to the German club.
Ex-club Borussia Dortmund have reportedly emerged as the front-runners in a race to sign the former Bundesliga player of the year from Manchester United.
Dortmund manager Klopp has admitted repeatedly that he would love to re-sign Kagawa, and has bemoaned his treatment at Manchester United thus far. Klopp even went so far as to suggest that he “weeps” every time he sees Kagawa played out of position at Old Trafford.
However, it appears that Moyes would only be willing to part with Kagawa if there is a player exchange that results in United acquiring the services of defender Neven Subotic in return.
Moyes is keen to bolster his shaky defence that has already suffered a troubling start to the season.
With Rio Ferdinand ageing relatively rapidly, Moyes appears ready to part with Kagawa in order to pair Vidic and Subotic in his central defence.
Whilst this would represent an unceremonious exit for Kagawa, a player that held such promise upon his arrival, certainly it is a move that might prove beneficial for all parties involved.
However, it appears that Klopp, while desperate to bring Kagawa back, is unwilling to part with the services of Subotic – meaning that Moyes will have to search elsewhere for his defensive knight in shining armour.
