United, Chelsea and Arsenal set to battle for £17m Real Madrid star
Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal have been alerted to Real Madrid star Karim Benzema’s availability. The Spanish side told the player’s agents to look for an alternative club.
The French striker is out of favour at Real Madrid and seems to have a poor relationship with fans.
Arsenal were linked with Karim Benzema in the summer as Real wanted to more easily finance their purchase of Gareth Bale. The Gunners ended up signing Mesut Ozil instead. Benzema is available for £17million, a significant loss on the £25m they paid Lyon in 2009.
Manchester United boss David Moyes has been told significant funds will be made available in January, and may be keen. He recently told reporters that a big-money move was unlikely.
Arsene Wenger has recalled Nicklas Bendtner because as their summer pursuit of strikers ended without success. Jose Mourinho is let Romelu Lukaku join Everton on loan and is left with only Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba.
Benzema could certainly join one of the top Premier League sides in January.
