Manchester United failed with world-record bid for Gareth Bale, he wanted his dream move
Gareth Bale flew back from Spain and held talks with Premier League champions Manchester United before join Real Madrid on a world record £86m deal.
Manchester United made a sensational world-record £100million bid for Gareth Bale, according to the Daily Mirror. Bale even flew back from Spain prior to signing from Spurs, in order to hold talks with Manchester United. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez told reporters: “Tottenham did not want to sell and we respected that. Then, when we found out that Manchester United would be making an offer, we made our own.”
Bale, it appears, made sure of the move to Real Madrid as a matter of personal interest. Perez continued: “Since his childhood he had the dream of playing for Real Madrid and he asked us to make it possible for him to come. Bale was cheap. The signing of Gareth Bale is the model of Real Madrid, signing the best player in the world at this moment, and that is what I say.”
Manchester United only managed to sign Marouane Fellaini in the summer transfer window as David Moyes was left frustrated.
