Champions League: Three reasons why Manchester United may struggle vs Leverkusen
David Moyes makes his debut as manager in the Champions League group stages on Tuesday night as Manchester United host Bayer Leverkusen. Here’s why they may struggle:
Bayer Leverkusen, under the management of Sami Hyypia, have won four of their first five Bundesliga matches this term and are currently third behind Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
“They are at home, they have bigger experience in the Champions League and the pressure is on them.” Hyypia told reporters. “We are more relaxed but we must make sure we do not show them too much respect.”
3. Talented forwards
Bayer Leverkusen are expected to field Lars Bender and last season’s Bundesliga top scorer Stefan Kiessling at Old Trafford. Moyes is widely expected to rest one of Nemanja Vidic or Rio Ferdinand. Jonny Evans is expected to start & could struggled vs Kiessling.
