Breaking: Liverpool’s Rodgers “ready” to spend £25m on four new players
According to the Daily Star, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is “ready” to splash out and spend almost £25million pounds on new players before the closure of the transfer window on the second of September.
Earlier today it was announced that Chelsea’s Victor Moses was set to make a loan move to Liverpool, while the Anfield club are also in positive talks with PSG over the status of their young defender Mamadou Sakho. Sakho, 23, reportedly had a medical at Liverpool’s training ground Melwood yesterday and it appears that Liverpool are set to sign the player for £12m.
Sakho is apparently set to fight with Daniel Agger, Kolo Toure and Martin Skrtel for a first team position at Anfield.
Rodgers is also set to advance talks with Sporting Lisbon over their defender Tiago Ilori for a price that is reported to be in the range of £7m. Ilori is apparently thought of as a youth-project for Rodgers, and he plans to slowly introduce him into the mix at Anfield.
Both players will apparently be appearing in the stands at Anfield before their final contracts are signed.
Finally, Rodgers is reportedly interested in acquiring veteran keeper Shay Given, 37, as backup for Simon Mignolet.
