Liverpool bid for Chelsea star is rejected
Liverpool have made an approach to sign Juan Mata on loan, but this has been immediately rejected by Chelsea.
TalkSPORT report that Brendan Rodgers has had a loan bid rejected for the Spanish international. Press speculation has suggested that Juan Mata will be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge as Jose Mourinho has questions over the Spaniard’s ability to contribute defensively. Mata, the club’s back-to-back player of the season, was left on the bench in Chelsea’s first big Premier League match during Mourinho’s second stint at the club.
With Chelsea set to sign Willian from Anzhi, Mata has been touted for a move away from Chelsea on even to be included in a deal for Wayne Rooney. Jose Mourinho has said the Blues have no intention of selling Mata, but it remains to be seen if that is really the case.
