Falcao “Wants to Leave Monaco”: Chelsea and City on Alert
According to the Daily Express, Radamel Falcao “wants to leave Monaco” as the drama with the tax issues at Monaco continues.
Chelsea and Manchester City are on full alert after recent concerns surrounding the lack of competitive balance in the French League were brought about by Monaco’s status as a principality.
Monaco paid £51m for Falcao this summer, as they signalled their intent to combat PSG as the richest club in French football.
However, the side are at risk of having to offload their star players before the season has hardly begun, or they may face a massive £75m fine.
Currently, Falcao has a massive tax-free salary – a benefit that other Ligue 1 clubs do not have. Reports in Spain, however, suggest that the player’s salary could be cut in half by changes proposed by Francois Hollande’s government,
The club reiterated their denial that Falcao will leave, stating on their twitter account: “The club categorically deny rumours about a sale of Falcao. As a reminder, the Colombian attacker has signed with ASMFC for five years.”
But reportedly, Falcao feels “let down” by Monaco owner – Russian multimillionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev – and believes that he was recruited under false pretences. Falcao apparently only moved to Monaco because the club offered to pay him £4m per year more than his next best offer.
