Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho: “We Will Destroy our Opponents.”
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has emphasized the supreme confidence that he has in his side’s ability by stating that he believes that Chelsea will “destroy” their opponents this season if they play as well as they did against Hull last weekend.
Mourinho waxed lyrical about his side following a match in which Chelsea’s performance, in particular the first half, was full of scintillating attacking football.
Chelsea have a wealth of attacking options this season, with Fernando Torres, Oscar, Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku. Juan Mata, Demba Ba and Frank Lampard all expected to contribute in the final third.
Although the scoreline on the weekend remained only 2-0, Chelsea received a number of plaudits for their attacking play – with the highest praise being dished out by the Special One in himself.
Speaking about the need to maintain their intensity for the duration of the 90 minutes, Mourinho said “If we do that, we will destroy an opponent.”
“We’ll get a much bigger result because going that way you have to score goals.”
‘We want to win matches. But what I like is that when you have the chance to beat them by three, four or five, we have to do it.”
Mourinho then added that he wanted to see more from Eden Hazard, following a bright display that nevertheless failed to yield a goal or an assist.
“When you are a normal player you have to be happy if you perform OK,’ he said. ‘But when you are a top talent you can’t waste it” he said.
‘He mustn’t be up and down but always at the top of his game because he has the ability to be a top player. This is what I want. Whether I can get it I don’t know but he is working very hard. I’m very happy with the kid.”
