Chelsea on alert as Radamel Falcao could be sold by Monaco as tax fine looms
Chelsea have been alerted by rumours that Radamel Falcao could be sold.
AS Monaco are apparently eager to sell Falcao as the club are now at odds with the French football association over tax laws. AS Monaco spent £51m on Falcao this summer as they push for a top finish in Ligue 1 & eventual Champions League football. The newly-promoted side may have to sell the Colombian star or they may have to pay a £75m fine.
Currently, Falcao is receiving a huge tax-free salary, something that other Ligue 1 sides can’t offer.
French journalist Cyrille Haddouche: ”So the tax advantage that Monaco is considered as unfair [by the clubs], especially in a period of economic difficulties for all clubs except Paris Saint-Germain.
“For example, former winners of the league, Lyon and Lille, must now sell players in order to reach break even.”
