Breaking: Tottenham now in pole position to land Suarez

By on August 4, 2013

According to the Metro and the London Sunday Times, in a shocking turn of events, Tottenham Hotspur now appear to be in pole position to land Liverpool striker Luis Suarez – if they sell Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.

Tottenham are reportedly keen on reinvesting the hefty sum that they might receive for Bale in new players immediately this summer. In Suarez, Spurs have the opportunity to purchase a proven, world-class player – and to simultaneously put one over on Arsenal before the season has even begun.

Villas-Boas is looking to bolster his attack prior to the increasingly likely transfer of Gareth Bale, and Suarez would provide the perfect paper to cover the cracks of Bale’s departure.

Villas-Boas reportedly believes that Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermaine Defoe are not up to the standards that he is looking for – and he is keen to acquire a strike partner for the newly purchased Roberto Soldado.

Certainly, if the transfer for Bale does come through- Spurs will have more than enough funds to reinvest in players, and Villas-Boas is reportedly a huge admirer of the Uruguayan striker.
