Real Madrid ready to bid for Spurs star

The Daily Telegraph report that Gareth Bale may be subject of a big-money bid in the summer from Spanish giants, Real Madrid (story here)

Gareth Bale has been the topic of much speculation since his impressive form for Spurs following his move from Southampton a few years ago. Manager Andre Villas-Boas has suggested that Bale, who has scored 13 goals for Tottenham this season, plus four more for his country, will be a target for Real Madrid if Spurs fail to secure Champions League football for next season.

“It’s difficult for us to have a player of this dimension playing so well, calling the attention of other teams but it’s also difficult for other teams, with the economic situation as it is, to buy a player of this dimension. At the moment, we are very, very fortunate to have him.”

“The Champions League is where most of the clubs want to be, and where most of the players want to play.”

Indeed, Spurs will be lucky to keep their star man if they fail to reach the pinnacle of European football for next season.
