Juventus: No big-name January transfers imminent, according to Antonio Conte
Juventus manager Antonio Conte has moved to distance the club from big-name transfers in the January transfer window.
Didier Drogba and Fernando Llorente have been linked with the Serie A champions in recent weeks and months but Conte insists such a transfer move is not possible.
Juventus face Celtic in the Champions League last 16 in mid-February and reinforcements were thought to be needed. Antonio Conte said on Saturday that he “never asked the club to [sign Drogba]“.
Just three weeks ago, Conte suggested: “We won’t be signing any top players because we’re not in a position to. Neither us, nor other top teams in the Italian league.”
Fernando Llorente is out of contract at the end of the season and Juventus had been strongly linked but Conte, once again, dampened the rumours.
“I’m delighted he is considering Juventus because it shows we can attract big name players again. But I would be surprised to see him in Turin in January”
Will Juventus struggle against Celtic without transfer signings in January?
