Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has backed Robin Van Persie to fire Manchester United to the Premier League title.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy – scored 95 goals in 137 league starts for Manchester United –  said of van Persie: I congratulated him on his fantastic start at the club and I wished him to continue like this. Its like he’s been [at United] forever, he scored his first goal quickly, and he [continued] ever since and never stopped. Hopefully it will continue.”

Robin Van Persie has 11 goals for his new club after leaving Arsenal in the summer.

“I think, as he’s proving right now he is making the difference on many occasions. If he can continue like this for the whole season I can see United going for another league win”

Van Persie has been a vital cog in a system that relies on the interchanging of forwards and midfield. Rooney has been able to drop deeper with the addition of Van Persie.

Van Nistelrooy continued: “He had the experience in the Premier League already and he’s proved he’s a great signing.”
